Join Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences for an online conversation exploring the artist residency program at UC Berkeley’s Sagehen Creek Field Station in the Sierra Nevada. The field station was co-founded by NAS Member A. Starker Leopold in 1951. Sagehen’s artist residency has been shaped by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s consensus study report, Enhancing the Value and Sustainability of Field Stations and Marine Labs in the 21st Century (2014) which suggested that field stations and marine labs should do a better job of connecting with the public. On August 20 at 12 pm EDT, artist residency co-directors Jeffrey Brown and Faerthen Felix and curator William L. Fox engage in a conversation on Zoom with time for Q&A and interaction with the audience. This program is part of Cultural Programs' D.C. Art Science Evening Rendezvous series.
