In progress

Emerging research institutions (ERIs), which by statute have less than $50 million in federal research expenditures annually, serve a critical role in the U.S. STEM research ecosystem. ERIs have an outsized impact on STEM workforce development, disproportionately facilitating U.S. innovation and competitiveness by providing communities across the United States increased engagement to academic Research & Development. In advance of a National Summit this fall, these three webinars will explore the broad range of ERIs, their innovative approaches, and some of their current needs and opportunities.

Description

As part of the development of a summit on Reenvisioning the Future of STEM Research at Emerging Research Institutions (ERIs), subgroups of the committee will plan and convene a set of webinars to elucidate the unique roles these institutions serve within the STEM research enterprise, the ways to facilitate partnerships and engagement with communities, and discuss some strategies to improve the coordination of STEM research at ERIs.
