Join the Ocean Studies Board and Ocean Decade U.S. on October 30, 2020 to learn about the Board’s new initiatives. This will include: Updates on U.S. activities related to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development; a discussion of training and workforce in ocean acoustics; next steps in developing the UxS infrastructure to support in situ ocean sensing; and a special session to scope a potential National Academies study on increasing diversity, equity, inclusivity, justice, and belonging (DEIJB) in ocean studies. This session features Dr. Dorceta Taylor, a professor of environmental justice at Yale School of the Environment and expert in the field of institutional diversity and workforce dynamics in the environmental sector. Subsequently, two panel discussions will explore topics that could be addressed by a National Academies study on DEIJB in ocean studies.
