Topics

Please join us for the inaugural NRSB Nuclear Security webinar.

The 90-minute webinar will focus on the United States' production of high assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) for government programs with a near-term and enduring requirement for HALEU. Participants will discuss how infrastructure decisions made now could improve supply chain efficiency for much larger demands in the longer-term. Special focus will be on the HALEU needs by NNSA’s research reactor conversion and medical isotope production – topics both covered by NRSB past reports:

Reducing the Use of Highly Enriched Uranium in Civilian Research Reactors and

Molybdenum-99 for Medical Imaging.

Julia M. Phillips, Sandia National Laboratories (retired) and chair of the research reactor conversion study, will serve as the webinar’s moderator with guest panelists:

  • Jeffrey D. Chamberlin, Associate Assistant Deputy Administrator, Office of Material Management and Minimization, NNSA
  • Ira N. Goldman, Vice President, Global Public Policy and Government Relations, Lantheus Medical Imaging
  • Monica C. Regalbuto, Director, Nuclear Science and Technology, Idaho National Laboratory (INL)
  • John G. Stevens, Program Manager, Reactor Material Management, Argonne National Laboratory (ANL)
