The Biden Administration’s 100-day supply chain review recommends rebuilding the country’s small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) manufacturing base, “which has borne the brunt of the hollowing out of U.S. manufacturing.” The Manufacturing Extension Partnership national network and the Manufacturing USA institutes support public-private partnerships to improve the innovation and productivity of U.S. manufacturing. How has the pandemic affected SMEs, and how can these public-private partnerships better de-risk investments in resilience for these producers?
During this meeting, GUIRR members and guests considered what new kinds of partnerships between government, academia, and industry can facilitate new opportunities for advanced manufacturing talent and workforce development.
Speakers:
William Bonvillian, Senior Director of Special Projects at MIT's Office of Digital Learning
Rob Ivester, Acting Director of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership at the National Institute of Standards and Technology
Mary Isbister, President of GenMet Corporation and Chairman of the Board, at MxD
This meeting is for GUIRR members and invited guests.
