2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the publication of the influential Vannevar Bush report, Science: The Endless Frontier. This remarkable and prescient report was the guiding force for science and innovation in our country for decades. It led to the development of the modern American research university, the National Science Foundation, and the intellectual architecture for science, engineering, and medical research and higher education in the United States. Bush’s report helped form critical institutions and shaped much of our science policy. Now is the time to look to the future: what is our vision for science during the next 75 years?

On February 26, 2020, leaders from science, government, academia, business and philanthropy met at a one day symposium in Washington, DC to reflect on Bush’s legacy and explore new approaches for addressing the challenges and opportunities of the next 75 years.
