Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting
Jan. 5-9
Transportation leaders, policymakers, administrators, and researchers from government, industry, and academia will gather for TRB’s 104th annual meeting. The conference covers all transportation modes with hundreds of sessions and workshops.
Adult Learning in the Military Context
Jan. 7
Margaret Beier will provide an overview of the new National Academies report Adult Learning in the Military Context and discuss conclusions and recommendations from the report.
The Rise of Non-Survey Administrative Data for Statistics and Evidence-Building
Jan. 13
This seminar will outline the progress made by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in using non-survey administrative data for statistical purposes to augment or replace survey data. Thus far, areas of focus have been household consumption, the consumer price index, and agricultural statistics. The seminar will also discuss the development of large integrated data assets that enable analysis and evaluation of a wide range of public policies.
Adapting Frameworks for Assessing Dual-Use Potential in Bioeconomy Research
Jan. 21-23
This meeting will continue the framework discussion using select topic scenarios of bioeconomy-relevant biotechnologies and biomanufacturing. The participants will identify, assess, and discuss risks mitigation associated with scenario-specific bioeconomy-related research while also identifying benefits to conducting research and development in these fields.
Pathways for New Nuclear Development
Jan. 29 and 30
This workshop will facilitate discussions among policymakers, regulators, community leaders, and technical experts regarding the challenges of deploying more nuclear power, including ways to improve construction, financing, decision-making, and public engagement, real and perceived risks, and opportunities for the future.

Release dates for reports and proceedings from the National Academies depend on successful completion of the review process and publishing schedules. Reporters who would like to be notified when a report is due for release should contact the Office of News and Public Information (e-mail news@nas.edu) and ask to be placed on a contact list.
Methods for Assessing Equity Impacts of Surface Transportation Investments
This report identifies opportunities to better inform federal, state, tribal, and local governments on the effectiveness of surface transportation projects in addressing the transport challenges of low-income, rural, and other communities.
