U.S. National Committee for Psychological Science (USNC/IUPsyS)

The National Academy of Sciences withdrew as the U.S. adhering member of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS), effective July 1, 2026, and no longer serves as the U.S. adhering body to the Union. As a result, the U.S. National Committee for Psychological Science (USNC/IUPsyS) has been dissolved. This page is retained for historical purposes and reflects the National Academy of Sciences’ former relationship with the International Union of Psychological Science.

Statement of Task

The National Academy of Sciences is the U.S. adhering body to the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) and it maintains its relationship with the union through the U.S. National Committee (USNC)/IUPsyS. IUPsyS works to promote the development, representation, and advancement of psychology as a basic and applied science nationally, regionally, and internationally.
