Eighth Arab-American Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Symposium

The Arab-American Frontiers program convenes U.S. and Arab scientists, engineers, and medical professionals to discuss major scientific advances on a wide array of topics relevant to the MENA region and globally. The goal is to enhance the scientific exchange and dialogue among young researchers in Arab countries and the United States, and through this interaction, facilitate research collaboration within and beyond the region. The eighth Arab-American Frontiers symposium will be held in partnership with the Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and hosted online, November 1-4, 2021. The application deadline is January 31, 2021.

Description

This symposium is made possible by the generous support of USAID, Hamad bin Khalifa University, and the National Science Foundation.

Eligibility Requirements

Participants for the Arab-American Frontiers program need to meet the following qualifications:

  • have completed your highest degree less than 15 years ago. Selected members are typically within 10-12 years of their advanced degree at the experience level of assistant/associate professor or equivalent in a non-academic setting;
  • be fluent in English;
  • be employed in the U.S. or one of the 22 Arab League countries, but citizenship of the country of residence is not required;
  • have demonstrated accomplishment in science, engineering, medical research, or technical work with recognizable contributions to advancing their fields
  • be interested in developments in other fields (and in engaging with people working on them) and be able to consider how advances, techniques, and approaches in those areas relate to the nominee’s own field;
  • possess the potential to be a future leader in the science, engineering, or medical field; and
  • have demonstrated an impact on the development of their country (participation in scientific projects,/scientific meetings/contribution to the promotion of S&T within society
