Despite increased attention to health equity in recent years, disparities in health outcomes and access to care persist in brain disorders. Recognizing the consistent, multilayered effort required within the entire neuroscience community to reduce such disparities, the National Academies' Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous System Disorders hosted a two-hour public workshop exploring potential strategies to mitigate health disparities starting with basic science. This event brought together a diverse panel of academic researchers, funders, journal editors, and patients to discuss opportunities to increase the generalizability of data, address biases, and cultivate interdisciplinary collaborations to further health equity.
