Assessing the Economics of Genomic Medicine: A Workshop

Completed

The Roundtable on Translating Genomic-Based Research for Health hosted a workshop that brought economists, regulators, payers and providers together to analyze three scenarios (preconception counseling, a deep vein thrombosis/pulmonary embolism event, and directing cancer care) where genomic information could be utilized for clinical decision making. The various factors that influence costs were identified and discussed along with alternative models of implementation. The goal of the workshop was to advance discussions around the clinical integration of genomic applications.
