Statement of Task
An ad hoc committee will be formed to examine the issue of sustainment planning in the Air Force weapons system acquisition cycle. Specifically, the committee will:
- Identify at what point or phase of the development of a weapons system should sustainment planning be integrated into the program.
- Examine and provide recommendations regarding how sustainment planning should be evaluated throughout the development process.
- Investigate and describe the current challenges with sustainment planning and determine what changes have occurred throughout the U.S. Air Force (USAF) acquisition process that may have eroded sustainment planning.
- Identify opportunities for the USAF acquisition offices to gain greater access to sustainment expertise.
