Public Committee Meeting Agendas
The committee held three virtual meetings in June 2020, and portions of two of the meetings were open to the public. The agendas for these open sessions are included in this appendix. To inform the committee’s deliberations, various information-gathering mechanisms were used throughout the study:
- The committee’s first virtual meeting in June 2020 included an open session where a representative from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Sequencing for Public Health Emergency Response, Epidemiology, and Surveillance Program provided its perspectives on the charge to the committee and state and local monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 in order to provide additional background information and context for the study.
- The committee’s second virtual meeting in June 2020 included a public session where the committee heard from researchers operating in three major areas: (1) those studying genomic data, precision epidemiology, and the intersection of emerging infectious disease data sources; (2) those with in-depth knowledge regarding the considerations around the sharing, linkage, and public health application of genomic, epidemiologic, and clinical data; and (3) those who can speak to the lessons learned from previous approaches and existing initiatives. These helped the committee to better understand the nature of the data needs space, as well as the challenges experienced.
