The Committee on National Statistics (CNSTAT) contributes to a better understanding of important national issues by working to improve the statistical methods and information on which public policy decisions are based. The committee works to: (1) contribute to the effectiveness of the federal statistical system, especially by improving the information on important public policy issues; (2) further the application of statistical methods to better implement and evaluate federal programs; and (3) improve the application of statistical methods to public affairs, to private-sector decision making, and to research in social, economic, and other sciences.
