Flooding and scour are a leading cause of bridge failures in the United States. Agencies responsible for bridge safety seek effective threat-mitigation strategies, including installation of scour countermeasures to monitor, control, inhibit, change, delay, or minimize stream instability and bridge-scour susceptibility. TRB hosted a webinar on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM Eastern that identified current practices of bridge scour risk management. Presenters proposed an implementation plan to improve the consistency in applying risk management techniques.

This webinar draws on research from the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Domestic Scan Program 15-02: Bridge Scour Risk Management.
