TRB Webinar: Overcoming Policy Challenges to Implementing Priced Managed Lanes

April 17, 2023

3:00 PM - 4:30 PM (EDT)

Past

Priced managed lane projects that use pricing as a demand management tool are facing increased political and policy resistance to their implementation. There may be a general anti-road pricing sentiment in certain localities or concerns that advancing road pricing prioritizes automobile travel over other transit options. TRB hosted a webinar on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM Eastern that questioned why we implement priced managed lanes and changing goals for implementation. Presenters shared the value propositions of priced managed lanes, equity programs that help implementation, and specific strategies for communicating environmental and travel demand benefits.

This webinar was sponsored by TRB’s Standing Technical Committee on Managed Lanes.

The slides are linked in the meeting materials. View the recorded webinar below.
