Description
A planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will plan and host a virtual public workshop to discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in chemistry and chemical engineering. Specifically, the workshop will (1) explore barriers to DEI that are specific to chemistry and chemical engineering, (2) examine successful programs and best practices for increasing DEI in these fields, and (3) explore innovative approaches to create a culture in which all have equal opportunities to participate and advance. Ultimately, the workshop will provide a forum for academic, government, and industrial colleagues to increase awareness of potential barriers to DEI and gain the information needed to create more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments in their workplaces. A workshop proceedings, authored by a rapporteur, will be published after the workshop.
