Topics

Through the Science7 (S7) and Science20 (S20) engagements, the national academies of the G7 and G20 nations issue joint statements that are policy-relevant but not policy-prescriptive, providing world leaders with the best available scientific information to address critical global issues. These engagements take place annually—typically in advance of the respective G7 and G20 summits—and rotate among the member academies. The S7 and S20 statements are signed by the leadership of the participating academies and are formally presented to the G7 and G20 leadership.

The NAS is the host of the S20 engagement in 2026 and the S7 engagement in 2027.
