Marine Board

The Marine Board is an internationally recognized source of expertise on maritime transportation, marine technology and offshore development. The purpose of the Marine Board is to identify research needs and provide a forum for exchange of information relating to new technologies, laws and regulations, economics, the environment, and issues affecting the marine transportation system, offshore industries, port operations, coastal engineering, and marine governance.

In progress

Any project, supported or not by a committee, that is currently being worked on or is considered active, and will have an end date.

Description

The Marine Board operates as part of the Transportation Research Board. As such, the Board enhances and is supported by TRB's Technical Activities standing committees, particularly those involved with ports and channels, inland water transport, ferry transportation, freight systems, marine safety and human factors, and the marine environment. This partnership enables the Marine Board to develop activities that encourage discussion and the examination of maritime transportation, marine research, policy issues, and technology developments in a broad context. The Marine Board also works closely with other boards in areas of mutual interest.
