U.S.-Africa Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine

Based on the success of the National Academies' Kavli Frontiers of Science Program and National Academy of Engineering's Frontiers of Engineering, the U.S.-Africa Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine program convenes series of symposia to bring together early-career researchers from the United States and African Union member countries to discuss exciting advances and opportunities in their fields.

The 2027 U.S.- Africa Frontiers Symposium will take place in Accra, Ghana on March 16-18, 2027.

Award details

The U.S.- Africa Frontiers program brings together outstanding young scientists, engineers, and medical professionals from the United States and the member countries of the African Union for a series of symposia to discuss exciting advances and opportunities in their fields. The goal of these meetings are to enhance the scientific exchange and dialogue among young researchers in African countries and the United States, including the African science diaspora, and through this interaction, facilitate research collaboration within and beyond the region. The 2027 symposium will explore the topics of:

  • Vaccines and Drug Discovery
  • Cancer
  • Intelligent Food Systems
  • Oceans and Coastal Environment
  • Energy Security
