Fellowship/Professional Development Program

Jefferson Science Fellowships

Jefferson Science Fellowships are an innovative model for engaging faculty in the U.S. foreign policy and international development process through a one-year immersive experience at the U.S. Department of State. Open to tenured, or similarly ranked, faculty from U.S. institutions of higher learning who are U.S. citizens, Fellows are embedded at State where they become conversant in operations and processes while contributing their technical expertise to policy formulation and implementation. Faculty return with a deeper understanding of policy, diplomacy, and international development to augment their research and teaching.
