Principles and Practices for a Federal Statistical Agency is the flagship publication of the Committee on National Statistics. Preparations for the report’s 8th edition have begun. The report is intended to support the invaluable role that relevant, timely, accurate, and trustworthy government statistics play in a democratic system of government, and to provide support and guidance to the federal agencies that produce them. Government statistics are widely used to inform decisions by policymakers, program administrators, businesses and other organizations, as well as households and the general public.
