Description
The Ocean Studies Board will establish an ad hoc steering committee to organize a workshop to survey the range of issues regarding renewable energy activities on the Atlantic outer continental shelf and potential impacts on fisheries. In particular the workshop will explore research and monitoring needs to assess impacts, engaging representatives of the fishing industry; fisheries managers at the state, regional, and federal level; fisheries scientists; and other potential stakeholders. A brief workshop proceedings will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
After the conclusion of the workshop, OSB staff, the steering committee, and BOEM program managers will discuss potential mechanisms for BOEM to engage scientific experts and stakeholders to address topics raised at the workshop and other issues as they arise and will hold a second public meeting where they will discuss the draft guidelines being developed by BOEM to address the issues covered at the earlier workshop.
