The National Academies' new report, Plasma Science: Enabling Technology, Sustainability, Security and Exploration, discusses the importance of plasma research, identifies important grand challenges for the next decade, and makes recommendations on funding and workforce. Learn more about the report by attending our virtual report briefing on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 2:30pm ET, where members of the committee will discuss the key findings and recommendations in the report and take questions from the audience. The report will be publicly released earlier that day and will be available at http://nap.edu.

Town Hall at the APS Division of Plasma Physics Annual Meeting, in conjunction with the Gaseous Electronics Conference

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is conducting a Decadal Assessment of Plasma Science to help federal agencies, policymakers, and academic leadership understand the importance of plasma research and make informed decisions about funding, workforce, and research directions. Community input is critical for the success of this assessment, and we invite members of the plasma science community to attend this town hall to share their input on the future of the field with members of the study committee.
In addition to general discussion during the town hall, we invite members of the community to apply to give short “lightning” presentations (less than 2 minutes, with a single slide) to the committee on their thoughts for the future of plasma science. See below for instructions on how to apply.
