In progress
As part of its awareness raising mandate, the Committee on Human Rights hosts a public symposium series to draw attention to pressing global challenges at the intersection of science, engineering, health, and human rights. Established in 2017, the series has provided a critical forum for discussion on topics such as the rights-related opportunities and concerns associated with digital technologies and the role of scientists, engineers, and health professionals in addressing human rights challenges confronting forcibly displaced persons.
Description
The Committee on Human Rights explores, and raises public awareness about, pressing global challenges involving human rights and science, engineering, and health. Our symposium series, established in 2017, brings together a diverse group of individuals from academia, international and non-governmental organizations, industry, and government to provide a critical forum for discussion of such challenges.
Previous symposia, and related publications, have explored the relationship between human rights and digital technologies and the role of the scientific community in protecting the rights of displaced persons. The CHR continues to explore ways of contributing to the dialogue on these and other matters of widespread human rights concern.
