A study committee appointed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will review the safety record of amphibious vessels (DUKW boats) when used for commercial passenger service and identify options for improving their safety performance through changes in vessel design, engineering, and outfitting.

This session is a continuation of the committee’s second meeting. During this meeting, the committee will hold an open zoom session, where representatives from DUKW boat operators and owners will discuss their expectations for the study, followed by a Q&A period with committee members. Afterwards, the committee will likely hold a closed session where it will discuss this information.
