Marine Board
The Marine Board is an internationally recognized source of expertise on maritime transportation, marine technology and offshore development. The purpose of the Marine Board is to identify research needs and provide a forum for exchange of information relating to new technologies, laws and regulations, economics, the environment, and issues affecting the marine transportation system, offshore industries, port operations, coastal engineering, and marine governance.

Description
The Marine Board both enhances and is supported by TRB's standing technical committees, particularly those involved with seaports, inland water transportation, ferry transportation, marine safety, and freight systems. The affiliation with TRB and its standing technical committees enables the Marine Board to develop activities that encourage discussion and examination of maritime transportation, marine research, policy issues, and technology developments in a broad context. The Marine Board also works closely with other units of the National Academies in areas of mutual interest.
