The Committee on Population is hosting a one-day expert meeting that will focus on Understanding the Effects of Intersectionality on Sexual and Gender Minorities. This event follows the April 2018 planning meeting for a Project on Demography of Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) Populations. It will take a more detailed look at how one’s well-being is affected when his/her/their identity as an SGM intersects with other key demographic, systemic, and structural factors. In addition, panelists will address the challenges with integrating the concept of intersectionality into population data collection and analysis. This meeting will also serve as a precursor to a broader consensus study on the well-being of SGMs that will take place later this year.
