TRB‘s latest edition of the Highway Capacity Manual, Seventh Edition: A Guide for Multimodal Mobility Analytics(HCM7) is now available. Over the years, the manual has evolved to keep pace as the focus of surface transportation planning and operations as the United States has moved from designing and constructing the Interstate highway system to managing a complex and multimodal transportation system that serves a variety of travelers and society. TRB hosted a webinar on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern that provides an overview of multimodal methods in the HCM, and examines updated applications for pedestrians, as well as new applications for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs).

This webinar was sponsored by the TRB Standing Technical Committee on Highway Capacity and Quality of Service.

This was the third part of a three-part series on the HCM. Part 1 on June 7 addressed overall new methods in the HCM7 and covered ways these new methods affect practitioners. Part 2 coverednew facilities and systems methods in HCM7 in the series on July 14.
