Motorized traffic is a significant source of urban air pollution. Individuals living adjacent to freeways and arterials have increased exposure to traffic-related air pollution. It contributes to increased risks of cancer, respiratory and cardiovascular disease, and adverse birth outcomes. TRB hosted a webinar on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Eastern that shared the relationship between transportation, air pollution, and health effects and provide strategies to work with communities to develop mitigation strategies. Presenters drew from meta-analysis and field studies to provide industry best practices for mitigating air pollution.
