Gender-inclusivity is a critical consideration in the design of new transportation safety measures. TRB hosted a webinar on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern that explored the intersection of gender and safety in transportation. Presenters discussed the unique safety challenges faced by different genders in various modes of transportation, examining factors and discussing potential avenues for improvement.

This webinar was sponsored by TRB’s Standing Technical Committees on Women and Gender in Transportation and Transportation Safety Management Systems.

The first 60 minutes of the webinar were for presentations and the final 30 minutes were reserved for audience questions.

At the end of this webinar, participants can:

  1. Provide insights into the gender dynamics shaping transportation safety

  2. Explore strategies for promoting awareness, advocacy, and community engagement in regard to gender safety

  3. Identify potential research opportunities to advance gender-inclusive safety measures in transportation

American Institute of Certified Planners Certification Maintenance Credits

This webinar was approved by the American Planning Association (APA) for 1.5 Certification Maintenance (CM) Credits. CM credits provide continuing education opportunities for AICP Certified Planners to continue their professional skills and knowledge.
