The workshop explored contemporary efforts to teach social and behavioral sciences (SBS) in K-12 education and new data on the public perception of SBS in K-12 education and current efforts related to the teaching of five SBS disciplines--psychology, sociology, anthropology, political science, and economics.

Description

An ad hoc workshop steering committee will plan and conduct a 1-day public workshop to identify contemporary efforts to teach social and behavioral sciences (SBS) in K-12 education. The workshop will explore new data on the public perception of SBS in K-12 education and current efforts related to the teaching of five SBS disciplines--psychology, sociology, anthropology, political science, and economics. Workshop participants will also discuss priorities within and across these SBS disciplines for supporting teaching of SBS in the future.
A rapporteur will prepare a brief workshop proceedings based on the information gathered and discussions held during the workshop, in accordance with institutional guidelines.
