Implementing A New Vision for High Quality Pre-K Curriculum: A Workshop

Aplanning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize and convene a public workshop to support constituent engagement and implementation of recommendations from the “A New Vision for High Quality Pre-K” consensus study. The meeting will focus on pre-k curriculum quality for children ages three through five, with special attention to the needs of Black and Latinx children, dual language learners, children with special needs, and children experiencing poverty. The meeting will attend to the role of different constituent groups in implementation and will engage educators, policymakers, funders, families, and researchers.

Aplanning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize and convene a public workshop to support constituent engagement and implementation of recommendations from the “A New Vision for High Quality Pre-K” consensus study. The meeting will focus on pre-k curriculum quality for children ages three through five, with special attention to the needs of Black and Latinx children, dual language learners, children with special needs, and children experiencing poverty. The meeting will attend to the role of different constituent groups in implementation and will engage educators, policymakers, funders, families, and researchers.

The planning committee will develop the agenda, identify meeting objectives, and select appropriate speakers and other participants. A proceedings-in-brief will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
