Enhancing the U.S. Chemical Economy through Investments in Fundamental Research in the Chemical Sciences

This study will aim to examine strategies for fundamental research investments in the chemical sciences to sustain and enhance the economic activity. Support will be provided by a team of researchers, economists, and industry experts who will examine the return on prior investments in chemical research and discuss future investments to bolster the U.S. economy. The committee will consider environmental sustainability and a diverse workforce in their deliberations.

The final report will provide guidance to funders, researchers, educators, and industry professionals. The recommendations of the report will focus on scientific priorities needed to enhance the chemical economy.
