Effective disaster response relies on advanced mathematical models to predict and mitigate the impacts of natural disasters, from hurricanes to floods. Decisionmakers can use the critical insights provided by these models to make strategic investments in disaster preparedness that ultimately save lives and resources.

Join the National Academies on Tuesday, October 14 from 3pm to 4pm ET for a webinar on risk modeling and management for natural disasters. Speakers Gonzalo Pita (Johns Hopkins University) and Petar Jevtic (Arizona State University) will discuss how their work on quantifying potential effects of natural hazards can help improve risk-management policies. Maintaining resilient supply chains ensures that essential goods arrive when and where they’re needed, even in the face of disruption. New advances in the mathematical sciences hold the key to optimizing these critical supply chains while reducing waste and costs.

Join the National Academies on Tuesday, August 12 from 2pm to 3pm ET for a webinar on creating more resilient supply chains using the latest insights from the mathematical sciences.
