The workshop will explore how communities and healthcare systems can improve maternal health outcomes. A panel will discuss: what factors affect maternal health outcomes, and access to high-quality maternal health care? What promising approaches are being implemented to improve outcomes and reduce mortality? How might these be scaled up? How can interventions apply a life course approach to improve maternal health outcomes?
Focus will be on reproductive and sexual health equity, and the role of the social determinants of health. The workshop will also review needs for improving future data collection and research on this issue.
