Many health systems depend on prediction algorithms to identify and help patients with various health conditions. Some of these algorithms exhibit significant racial bias, resulting in millions of people of color being medically overlooked and/or treated disparately.
This one-day virtual workshop will convene a diverse set of experts to discuss the premise, history, and development of race-based clinical algorithms and their contribution to health inequities. Speakers will explore underlying assumptions of racial differences in physiology and when identifying race and ethnicity as social constructs are legitimate considerations for improving health equity.
