Obtaining reliable and valid dietary intake information for pregnant women and children aged 2 to 11 years old is particularly difficult. In pregnancy, assessment of dietary intakes is complicated because of the rapidly changing diets and nutrient needs. To advance the quality of the science in these areas, a committee of 8 individuals will be convened to plan a series of workshops to explore the state of the science on methods for assessing intakes of these population groups.
