The National Academies Forum on Advancing Diagnostic Excellence hosted a hybrid public workshop on April 3, 2025, to explore opportunities to strengthen health care professional education and training in the diagnostic process and reduce the potential for diagnostic errors. Topics of discussion will explore educational strategies within areas such as:

The iterative and collaborative nature of the diagnostic process;
Patient and community-centered approaches;
Strategies to improve communication, care coordination, and teamwork;
Factors that contribute to diagnostic disparities; and
The appropriate use of diagnostic tests and technologies including artificial intelligence to support the diagnostic process.

This workshop will be recorded. A recording of the workshop and all presenter slides will be made available on this page within the week.

The National Academies does not award continuing education credits or certificates of attendence for this event.
