There is a prevailing sentiment that the U.S. patent system is not operating in a way that optimizes innovation and productivity in today's technological and economic environment, and there is ongoing debate about whether patents are essential for technology development and commercialization in certain industries but an innovation inhibitor in others. This meeting explored these dynamics and they influence America's new innovation ecosystem.
