Expert Meeting on Acquisition Strategies for Icebreakers

Following the delivery to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) of a report assessing strategies for reducing the cost of procuring and operating icebreakers, a meeting of experts will be held to discuss implementation of the findings the study committee reached regarding acquisition strategy. Experts who briefed the committee, and others, would share with the USCG lessons from U.S. and foreign shipyards that help control acquisition costs. The experts will provide their perspectives as individuals; no NRC report or recommendations will be issued.
