Critical Issues in Transportation

Completed

The TRB Executive Committee will prepare a new version of Critical Issues in Transportation. Critical issues are defined as long-term transportation problems or questions that are currently major policy issues, or are expected to be major policy issues in the next 10 to 20 years. They are issues that are national or global in scope and importance, and on which there is a wide variety of viewpoints. The list will identify priority topics for innovation, research, and policy resolution, but will not include recommendations.

Description

The TRB Executive Committee will prepare a new version of Critical Issues in Transportation. Critical issues are defined as long-term transportation problems or questions that are currently major policy issues, or are expected to be major policy issues in the next 10 to 20 years. They are issues that are national or global in scope and importance, and on which there is a wide variety of viewpoints. The list will identify priority topics for innovation, research, and policy resolution, but will not include recommendations. TRB will publicize the list for the transportation community, and the public more generally, use it as input in developing TRB’s next strategic plan, and use it to guide TRB’s future programs, research, and studies.
