Background Materials

The background materials for this report consist of the following:

  • 39 abstracts of illustrative preventive intervention programs using randomized controlled trial design (see Chapter 7), and

  • a bibliography of over 2,000 background references in Pro-Cite and ASCII format.

These materials can be accessed in the following ways:

  • The commissioned papers and abstracts are available on disk (in Wordperfect 5.0) from the Institute of Medicine only until June 1, 1994. The disk can be obtained by returning the card found inside this book or by calling (202) 334-2328.

  • After June 1, 1994, the commissioned papers and abstracts will become available through the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) at (703) 487-4650 or 800-553-6847, or through the National Institute of Mental Health while supplies last.
