This rapid expert consultation was produced through the Societal Experts Action Network (SEAN), an activity of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine that is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
SEAN links researchers in the social, behavioral, and economic sciences with decision makers to provide actionable guidance on critical and complex issues, including those related to the COVID-19 pandemic, emerging infectious diseases, and extreme weather events worsened by climate change. This project is affiliated with the National Academies’ Standing Committee on Emerging Infectious Diseases and 21st Century Health Threats. This rapid expert consultation was produced in collaboration with the National Academies’ Board on Children, Youth, and Families.
