Appendix C

Timeline of Previous Face and Hand Transplantations

Below are lists of the available information about globally performed face and hand transplants. As reporting is not standardized, these data come from a variety of sources, including media reports, which may be biased or have incomplete information. The transplant demographic information, indications, and complications may not be comprehensive due to challenges with data collection. Many complications are not reported in the sources. However many patients experience adverse effects after the procedure. If a patient in the following tables does not have a reported complication this does not indicate they had no complications; rather, these complications were not found in the sources examined. Additionally, the complications section does not include psychosocial complications that patients may experience as a result of a face or hand transplantation (see Chapter 5 for more information about complications and Chapter 6 for more information about outcomes).
