Opening Remarks

Melissa Sabatine, Jacobs

Marci A. Greenberger, ACRP, TRB

Jordan Christensen, ACRP, TRB

At the beginning of Day 1 of the Insight Event, the speakers welcomed the audience, provided the objectives of the event, and established ground rules for participation. Jordan Christensen provided emergency procedures for the meeting room. Marci A. Greenberger opened by introducing the audience to ACRP and its relationship to TRB, which is one of seven major pillars of the Academies. Greenberger emphasized that ACRP is an industry-driven research program that relies on participation from aviation industry representatives. Melissa Sabatine noted that airport authorities, aviation industry practitioners, and academia were all represented. She reiterated that the Insight Event was not intended to be a conference but rather an opportunity to engage. Finally, she introduced the keynote speaker, Sunny Wescott, and provided Wescott’s background and current role as chief meteorologist for the United States Department of Homeland Security.
