Gulf Data, Analytics, and Impact

The Gulf Data, Analytics, and Impact unit strives to inform decision-making by identifying and making data, GRP program outcomes, and the best available scientific information accessible to decision-makers and others for use in the Gulf region. GDAI provides oversight and support of data management and governance activities by GRP grantees, continuous program evaluation working with program leaders across the GRP, and sustains productive partnerships with data-related organizations and consortia already in the Gulf.

Description

Decision makers in the Gulf of Mexico and other continental shelf regions face a wide range of complex and interconnected challenges. The Gulf Data, Analytics, and Impact unit strives to inform decision-making by identifying and making data, GRP program outcomes, and the best available scientific information accessible to decision-makers and others for use in the Gulf region. Efforts will focus on data discovery, integration, and synthesis activities related to offshore energy safety, environmental protection and stewardship, and community health and resilience.

Current and future initiatives of Gulf Data, Analytics, and Impact include:

  • Development of sustained and productive partnerships with data-related organizations and consortia already in the Gulf;
  • Design and implementation of effective and efficient grants management processes in collaboration with other GRP units;
  • Oversight and support of required data management and data governance activities on the part of GRP grantees;
  • Exploration of Data Fellowships in alignment with other GRP Fellowship programs and funding opportunities, and
  • Continuous program evaluation to help program leaders and volunteers across the GRP understand the outcomes and effects of ongoing programs and to design GRP programs for impact, equity, and justice.
