Requested by Congress in P.L. 115-31 and P.L. 115-245, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017 and the Department of Defense and Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Act, 2019 and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2019, this new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, explores the federal health care costs, safety, and quality concerns associated with discarded drugs that result from the weight-based dosing of medicines contained in single-dose vials.
