Progress of Four Programs from the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act
Requested by Congress in P.L. 114-198 (The Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016) and P.L. 115-141 (The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2018), this new report, from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, reviews outcomes achieved by four programs funded by SAMHSA through the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act: 1) State Pilot Grant Program for Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women (PPW-PLT), 2) Building Communities of Recovery (BCOR), 3) Improving Access to Overdose Treatment (OD Treatment Access), and 4) First Responders (FR-CARA). The committee's review is designed to result in three reports over 5 years. This report, the second in the series, reviews reported outcomes and metrics to assess progress toward achieving program goals.
These briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on March 23, 2021 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
