TRB Webinar: Cross-Cutting Issues in Urban Congestion Pricing

December 10, 2020

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (EST)

Past

The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has resulted in a decline in transportation revenues and a slow rebound in transit ridership. Thus, there has been an increased interest in urban congestion pricing to ease congestion, encourage alternate modes, and generate revenue. TRB hosted a webinar on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 PM Eastern that described current congestion pricing programs, including through existing Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) programs and those that are under reauthorization consideration. Presenters discussed approaches to congestion pricing in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. They addressed the impact of pricing programs on congestion management, equity consideration, and transit service coordination. Additionally, presenters will identify implementation approaches, how to secure stakeholder buy-in, and how to conduct public outreach.

This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Economics, Revenue, and Finance.

The presentation slides and recording of the webinar are available.
